Join Nevada Humanities for "Joe Crowley in Conversation with Steven Nightingale" on March 17, 2017, at 6:00 pm at Sundance Books and Music in Reno. The evening will feature a discussion between Crowley and Nightingale about the perils of propaganda in contemporary society. Words matter, and this conversation between two writers will provide tools we can use to recognize propaganda, and to understand its techniques of manipulation and control.
Joe Crowley was president of the University of Nevada, Reno for 23 years, and has held many other leadership positions since then. In retirement, he writes poems. Hats Off to the Cap (2016) is his first published poetry collection.
Steven Nightingale is the author of two novels, six books of sonnets, and a book about the city of Granada, Spain. His latest book is The Hot Climate of Promises and Grace, published in 2016.
The program will be followed by audience discussion and light refreshments, and is free and open to all.
The Salon is made possible through a partnership with Sundance Books and Music, and with financial support from the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Marilyn R. Melton Endowment for the Humanities at the Community Foundation of Western Nevada.
