Sierra Nevada Forums invites everyone to a discussion of sustainable community: one that is economically, environmentally, and socially healthy and resilient, while meeting challenges through integrated solutions rather than through fragmented approaches that address one of those goals at the expense of the others. The moderators of the program will be Nick Murano, City Manager, and Aster Girma, President of the Nevada Green Institute. Panelists include Tom Polikalis, Regional Representative of Southwest Energy Efficiency; Jeanne Lear, Human Resource Manager, South Lake Tahoe Refuse; and Craig Frezee, Owner/Operator of City Green Gardens. For more information, call 775-690-3913.

This forum begins the conversation with three key elements:  community-wide recycling, energy efficiency, and urban agriculture. Doors open at 5:30, and the forum begins at 6 p.m. The mission of Sierra Nevada Forums is to provide citizens with fact-based, verifiable information to assist them in making well-informed decisions on issues of importance to our community and beyond.

This program is funded in part by Nevada Humanities, Nevada's nonprofit state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
