Event: Mary Oxborrow: Pioneer Midwife and Healer, a Chautauqua performance by Anita Watson
Time: 3:00 PM
Location: California National Historic Trail Interpretive Center, Elko
Description:

Mary Oxborrow made the western emigrant trek walking behind an ox cart, but also became a Mormon plural wife and practiced as a midwife and healer.  This Chautauqua presentation of Mary Oxborrow's life by historian Anita Watson provides insight into the role of women in Mormon society, medical practices and social life on the frontier, and many other aspects of culture in the Great Basin in the nineteenth century.
