Margaret Breen, Donner Party Survivor, a Chautauqua portrayal by Dr. Doris Dwyer, is a Humanities on the Road program, hosted by the California National Historic Trail Interpretive Center in Elko. An Irish immigrant and devout Catholic, Breen worked tenaciously to ensure the survival of her family during the winter of entrapment in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Dr. Dwyer teaches history at Western Nevada College. She is nationally known for her Chautauqua performances of remarkable women. For information about this event, call Gary Koy at 775-738-1849.
