At 1:10 p.m., fifty minutes before the concert, a scholar will discuss the music to be performed in the concert, which places the music in a larger historical and cultural context. At 2:00 p.m., Music Director Theodore Kuchar leads the RCO in the Suite No. 1 of Ancient Airs and Dances by Respighi and Beethoven's Symphony No. 2. Pianist Maria Pisarenko, the winner of the RCO's 2010 College Concerto Competition, will be the soloist in Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21.
