| Description: |
Springs Preserve programs are implemented in partnership with the Southern Paiute community. Through informal interactions with Paiute tribal elders, visitors will be introduced to traditional Paiute culture. Demonstrations will take place in an area that houses a reconstructed Native American village, Mojave pithouse, and Native American garden. Interactions will focus on traditional activities such as food preparation, grinding and harvesting, drumming and dancing, bead and basketry work, and traditional storytelling. Although intended for school-age children, these demonstrations interest all ages. For more information, see www.springspreserve.org or contact The Springs Preserve at (702) 258-3258. This program is funded in part by Nevada Humanities, Nevada’s nonprofit state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. |
