How to Book a Speaker

Any non-profit organization in Nevada may book a Humanities on the Road program. Contact the speaker directly at least a month in advance.

After confirming arrangements with the speaker, complete the Booking Agreement and email it to maryt@unr.edu. (Save the Booking Agreement to your desktop, complete it, and submit it as an email attachment.) You will receive a reply that confirms your booking and provides a Final Report form.

The cost of each program is $50 payable to Nevada Humanities. (Nevada Humanities pays speaker's travel expenses and honorarium. Other costs are the responsibility of the sponsoring organization.)

Actively publicize the program in advance, giving Nevada Humanities and the National Endowment for the Humanities credit for supporting the program.

Requirements:

Provide an appropriate venue and an audience of at least 20 people.

Allow an hour or more for the program.

Programs are generally free and open to the public.

If there is a charge to attend, funds collected must be used to offset the cost of the program (the $50 fee, room rental, or publicity costs, for example).

Speakers cannot be used for fundraising events or to fund operating costs of an organization.

Schools:

School programs may be shorter than an hour.

Schools should schedule speakers whose presentations are relevant to what the students are studying. Discuss this with the speaker.

Publicity is not required for school programs
