All meetings are held on Thursdays at 6:30pm, in the meeting room at KNPB (1670 North Virginia Street), except where noted.

HOMEWORK for Feb. 9 – Bring registration forms and decide on a character you want to portray.

Write down 3 things you know about your character, 2 things you want to know about your character, and the 1 reason you chose your character.

 

February 9: Workshop Two

HOMEWORK for Feb. 23 – Fill out the “Building your Character” worksheet. Bring a short story about your character in first person. Bring your own personal biography, as well as a character biography.

 

 

February 23: Workshop Three

Storytelling, with Chautauquan Juanita Westbrook

 

HOMEWORK for March 9 – Bring two to three short stories about your character in first person. These stories are beginning to form your monologue.

 

March 9: Workshop Four

Stage presence and improv, with Good Luck Macbeth and The Utility Players

 

HOMEWORK for March 23 – Bring your monologue and make sure you have some sort of an opening (hook) and a closing.

 

March 23: Workshop Five (Spring Break)

Openings and closings, with Chautauquan Frank X. Mullen

 

HOMEWORK for April 6 – Bring complete monologue, be ready to perform in front of the group. You should be starting to memorize your stories/ monologue. Bring emcee card.

 

April 6: Workshop Six

Perform complete monologues w/ questions, with critique from Good Luck Macbeth and The Utility Players

 

HOMEWORK for April 20 – Bring complete monologue, be ready to perform in front of the group. Continue to work on memorizing your stories/ monologue. 

 

April 20: Workshop Seven

Perform complete monologues w/ questions, with critique from Good Luck Macbeth and The Utility Players

 

HOMEWORK for May 4 – Bring 5-7 questions WITH the answers for other YCs and parents to ask you. Continue to work on memorizing your stories/ monologue.

 

May 4: Workshop Eight

HOMEWORK for May 18 – Be prepared with a polished monologue and appropriate costume by May 18 (Workshop Nine). COME IN COSTUME on May 18 to have your pictures taken.

HOMEWORK for June 8  – Come with any last minute questions you may have about our final Young Chautauqua performance. Be prepared to do some practice questions as your character.
