All meetings are held on Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m., in the Community Room at KNPB (1670 North Virginia Street), except where noted.

HOMEWORK for Feb. 20 – Bring registration forms and decide on a character you want to portray.
Write down 3 things you know about your character, 2 things you want to know about your character, and the 1 reason you chose your character.
 
February 20: Workshop Two
Storytelling, with Chautauquan Juanita Westbrook
Research training, including biographies vs. emcee cards, with Lindsay Cook

HOMEWORK for March 6 – Fill out the “Building your Character” worksheet and bring timeline information for your character. Bring a short story about your character in first person. Bring your own personal biography, as well as a character biography.

HOMEWORK for March 20 – Bring two to three short stories about your character in first person. These stories are beginning to form your monologue.

April 3: Workshop Five (Spring Break)

HOMEWORK for April 17 – Bring complete monologue, be ready to perform in front of the group. You should be starting to memorize your stories/ monologue. Bring emcee card.
 
April 17 Workshop Six
Perform complete monologues w/ questions, with critique from Chris Daniels & Juanita Westbrook
 
HOMEWORK for May 1 – Bring complete monologue, be ready to perform in front of the group. Continue to work on memorizing your stories/ monologue. COME IN COSTUME on May 1 to have your pictures taken.
 
May 1: Workshop Seven PICTURES taken tonight – COME IN COSTUME!
Perform complete monologues w/ questions, with critique from Chris Daniels & Juanita Westbrook 
 
HOMEWORK for May 15 – Bring 5-7 questions WITH the answers for other YCs and parents to ask you. Continue to work on memorizing your stories/ monologue. 
 
May 15: Workshop Eight
How to navigate Q&A, including asking questions, with Chautauquan Doug Mishler

HOMEWORK for May 29 – Be prepared with a polished monologue. Come with any last minute questions you may have about our final Young Chautauqua performance. Be prepared to do some practice questions as your character.
