Have you ever stopped to think about the many ways in which the humanities touch your life? The humanities are all around you. The humanities are the basic elements that make us human, our capacity for reflection, our creativity, and our diverse cultures and identities.
We know the critical role that the humanities play in nurturing just and healthy communities, in connecting people, providing space for diverse perspectives, and strengthening our community bonds with deeper intellectual and cultural engagement. This is the power of the humanities, and at Nevada Humanities we work to make Nevada a better place.
You can join us in this effort by making a contribution to Nevada Humanities today as part of #GivingTuesday—an international day of giving that supports Nevada Humanities and other nonprofits around the globe—and help us meet our goal of $5,000.
#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, this year’s GivingTuesday will take place on December 3 and will kick off the giving season by inspiring people to collaborate and give back.
At Nevada Humanities, everything that we do furthers our efforts to educate and unite the people of Nevada.
Did you know in 2017-2018 Nevada Humanities:
● In 2017-2018, Nevada Humanities reached 1,804,865 people across the state of Nevada through 994 Nevada Humanities programs, events, and digital media outreach. Programs and events like The Salon and Pop Up Salons, the Nevada Humanities Literary Crawl, Nevada Reads, and the Las Vegas Book Festival bring the humanities alive across the state.
● In 2019 Nevada Humanities honored 11 exceptional Nevadans and two extraordinary Nevada organizations with the Nevada Humanities Award.
● Nevada Humanities educated over 290,225 people worldwide on our Online Nevada Encyclopedia (ONE) resource in 2017-2018.
● Nevada Humanities annually partners with over 100 Nevada organizations and agencies to bring you creative educational and cultural programming through Nevada Humanities grants.
