A Panel on Women’s Leadership in Religious and Spiritual Life

Join leaders from Northern Nevada’s diverse faith communities to explore the impact of women’s inclusion in or exclusion from prayer, practice and positions of power.

This special program is hosted by Temple Sinai, the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Nevada, Reno and the Northern Nevada Women's Leadership Initiative. Admission is free and registration is required. Register here.

In choosing panelists for the event, organizers endeavored to select a cross-section of women who reflect a variety of beliefs, backgrounds, and experiences in religious leadership. Panelists include:

The panel will be moderated by Dr. Erin Stiles, an associate professor at the University of Nevada, Reno, and the Graduate Program Director for the Department of Anthropology. Dr. Stiles’ research focuses on the intersections of religion, law, and gender.

Event Schedule and Location

Breaking The Stained-Glass Ceiling will take place from 5-7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 5, at Temple Sinai Reno at 3405 Gulling Road

Beginning at 5 p.m., attendees can view a special photography exhibit and enjoy hosted refreshments and beverages provided by Creme Cafe & Catering

The panel begins at 5:30 p.m. and will end at 7:30 p.m. 

Free Childcare

Free, on-site childcare during the event will be provided by College Nannies + Sitters + Tutors to the first 25 respondents. Childcare is available for toddlers to children who are 9 years old and whose parent or guardian will be attending the event. Children 9 years and older are encouraged to attend the program with a parent or guardian. To RSVP for childcare, please select the childcare add-on with your ticket no later than February 24.

Women of the Wall Photography Exhibit

The exhibit, featuring photographs by Steve Davis, honors the 10th anniversary of 24 female members of Temple Sinai showing solidarity with women in Israel who fight to have an equal place to pray at Judaism’s most holy site.
