Wonders of Nature: Drawing on Nature with Jeff and Maria Fulmer
This session is intended to be an informal discussion of how to better incorporate and honor ideas of nature and the natural world as part of the art making process. Participants are encouraged to bring their thoughts, ideas, questions, and life experience. Participants should also bring some nature with them to draw, paint, or make art with. Join us as we celebrate, discuss, explore, and experiment with “Drawing on Nature."

Maria Fulmer was born in the Philippines on the island of Luzon where she remembers running barefoot, climbing trees, and making kites out of giant beetles. She immigrated from the remote village of Calapandayan to the urban concrete jungles of California’s San Fernando Valley in 1982. Her biggest fear was that she would be forced to eat hamburgers and hotdogs every day for the rest of her life.
Maria is an artist and art educator. She teaches art for the Clark County School District at Oran K. Gragson Elementary School and wheel thrown ceramics for the College of Southern Nevada. Previously Maria taught art for Crawfordsville Community Schools and pottery through the City of Las Vegas. Maria earned her BA in Art in 2000 and her ME in Curriculum and Instruction in 2008, both from UNLV.
