Lines, Shapes, Textures, and Patterns of Nature - Workshop led by Tia Flores
Mother Nature is a magnificent source for creative inspiration, abundant with interesting lifeforms, lines, shapes, textures, and patterns. Through careful observation we discover our own unique environment with its array of fascinating creatures to investigate and draw.
In this workshop, we will explore the basic techniques of drawing a variety of organic lines, shapes, textures, and patterns we might see in nature. We will examine and break down the simple parts of an object and determine the best artistic approach in capturing its unique characteristics in a pen and ink composition. Like the author of World of Wonders, we will call upon joyful memories of the environment in which we explore, play, and feel a kinship with.

About Tia L. Flores - Nevada Artist
A fourth generation Nevada native, Tia Flores is known for her culturally themed pyrographic calabaza sculptures depicting the vast beauty of the Nevada desert and its natural inhabitants. As an internationally recognized artist, Tia’s artwork has been featured on HGTV’s That’s Clever!, Voices of America, PBS Reno ArtEffects and Women Artists of the Great Basin by Mary Lee Fulkerson.
Spurred by a desire to know more about her heritage, Tia’s designs are a reflection of her two families; from her maternal grandmother, her work captures the untamed characteristics of the Nevada desert. And from her paternal grandmother, she incorporates the rich cultures of the Aztec and Navajo people and their love and appreciation of nature.
