Join Nevada Humanities for a lunchtime conversation about storytelling, art, and activism. In celebration of the Robert Laxalt Distinguished Writer Award, join us as we host the 2022 Robert Laxalt Distinguished Writer Award honoree, Beth Piatote, in conversation with Antoinette Cavanaugh, educator and board chair of the Nevada Humanities Board of Trustees, and Autumn Harry, fisherwoman, land defender, and Indigenous rights advocate, for a discussion about how writing, artmaking, and working in nature can be radical acts of resistance. The panelists will talk about the importance of quotidian acts to service joy and how creating things together—stories, art, or movements—is the best antidote to disconnection. The conversation will be moderated by Dr. Debra Harry.
This program is produced by Nevada Humanities in partnership with the Donald W. Reynolds School of Journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno, as part of the 2022 Robert Laxalt Distinguished Writer Award celebratory events.
