Record Your Own World of Wonders: A Book-Making Workshop with Sidne Teske

  • Tuscarora Library & Tuscarora Society Hall Weed Street Tuscarora, NV, 89834 United States (map)

Learn how to make your own hand-bound journal/sketchbook to record your observations, inspirations, and sketches! At this book-making workshop with Sidne Teske, participants will make a book cover with decorated paper, fill it with journal paper that will accept a variety of media, and bind it with coptic stitching. When finished, the book will open flat.

The workshop is free and open to all ages. Advance registration is required as space is limited. Nevada Humanities will provide all materials and there will be a one-hour lunch break with food provided for participants.

This event will take place both indoors and outdoors at the Tuscarora Library and Tuscarora Society Hall. We recognize that attendees may have varying degrees of comfort in group settings. Masks are optional but very welcome.

Sidne Teske is a self-taught pastel painter, who makes plein aire landscapes as well as large studio pieces. She often sketches with watercolor when out in the field. To change things up a bit, she also makes books out of found objects, such as broken musical instruments, and translates her love of petroglyphs into furniture.

Nevada Reads In Your Library brings authors and literary programming to public libraries across Nevada. This program is produced by Nevada Humanities and is made possible with support from Nevada State Library, Archives and Public Records and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
