During this stream with historian Sarah Keyes (University of Nevada, Reno), we will discuss the history of the Overland Trail and westward migration while playing through part of The Oregon Trail (2022) remake. Join us to learn more about reinterpreting this history and Sarah’s new book, American Burial Ground: A New History of the Overland Trail (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2023).
Sarah Keyes is a historian of the United States. She specializes in the 19th century and the history of the U.S. West. Her first book, American Burial Ground: A New History of the Overland Trail, was published by the University of Pennsylvania Press in October 2023. American Burial Ground places death at the center of the history of the Overland Trail and, in doing so, offers a sweeping and long overdue reinterpretation of this historic touchstone.
