Poetry Promise Workshops at the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art

Let art inspire your poetry. Spend time discussing the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art exhibitions with local professional poets before using the art to generate literary creations of your own.  

Each workshop in this one-month series will run from 11 am to 1 pm every Saturday from June 3 through to June 24, 2023. Participants will consider artworks from one of the following exhibitions: Modern Desert Markings: An Homage to Las Vegas Area Land Art, Am I Your Type, and Crowd Burst. The artworks vary from cast metal sculptures to video, textile, painting, photography, and more. The discussions will cover a range of stimulating topics, including land use in the desert near Las Vegas and questions of identity and personal narrative.
