Dreaming the Dream On

By Paul Stoddard

You don’t know what you’re doing;
Do it anyway-
Jump! Don’t look too far out;
It takes many moons to see
The unraveling

Cores aren’t hollow;
space is not a lack;
A hole is not a gap.

In a dream, as you start to fly,
There’s a moment of suspension
Floating suspending disbelief
Til you shout out,
“I remember- I can fly!”

Let your knees bend a little
Cushion yourself from the fall
It hurts more
the more scared you are.

It’s okay to grieve
The dream ending,
But you must begin again;
The dream is always already becoming
What you make believe
It to be;
The dream moves forward by
dreaming the dream on.
