Wonders of Nature: Sound Topographies and Close Listening Outdoors

At this workshop, we will close listen to a collection of audio clips recorded in several locations. Though we often think of soundscapes as a monolith - "the sound of wind" or "the sound of rain" - there is often so much more that reflects our unique surroundings in that moment. The goal of this workshop is to dissect audio elements and begin to cultivate a sharp ear for the world around us.

Recommended Supplies

  • Pen and paper to take notes

  • Headphones

  • A somewhat quiet room (probably not best in an airport)

Additional Information

  • The audio clips we will listen to can be found on Fil's website HERE. (No need to download beforehand, we will listen to them together during the workshop.)
