A Community Reading with Joseph Lee, Aquinnah Wampanoag
Joseph Lee is an Aquinnah Wampanoag writer and 2020 AAWW Margins Fellow. He is currently the Senior Indigenous Affairs Fellow at Grist.
Born and raised in Massachusetts, he is a member of the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah) on Martha’s Vineyard. Joseph now lives in Manhattan and is a graduate of the MFA program in nonfiction at Columbia University. He has written essays for publications including Tin House, Catapult, and Electric Literature. In 2016, he received the Wampanoag Heritage Scholarship from the Cuttyhunk Island Writer’s Residency.
