Humanities at Play: Yaga with Author GennaRose Nethercott

  • twitch.tv/humanitiesatplay (map)

Join us on Humanities at Play for an interactive author talk with Thistlefoot author GennaRose Nethercott! From 4-5 pm, watch us explore Yaga, a game set in the world of Slavic folk tales and mythology while we chat about Thistlefoot, Baba Yaga, and all things folklore. From 5-6 pm, join us for a conversation with GennaRose while we discuss her experiences traveling around in Nevada for her book tour, exciting upcoming projects, travels, and more.

GennaRose Nethercott is a writer and folklorist. Her first book, The Lumberjack’s Dove, was selected by Louise Glück as a winner of the National Poetry Series, and whether authoring novels, poems, ballads, or even fold-up paper cootie catchers, her projects are all rooted in myth—and what our stories reveal about who we are. She tours widely, performing strange tales (sometimes with puppets in tow), and researches/writes for the podcast Lore. She lives in the woodlands of Vermont, beside an old cemetery. Thistlefoot is her debut novel and a 2023 Nevada Reads selection.

Humanities at Play explores and showcases the significance of the humanities in everyday life through games, media, and popular culture.
