  • Twitch twitch.tv/humanitiesatplay (map)

Get to know other state humanities council staff from around the nation! We will play Dave the Diver with Stephanie Chill from Florida Humanities while discussing the work she does for their public humanities programming across the state, grant management, and more.

Stephanie Chill joined the Florida Humanities team in July 2021 and is currently the Programs Officer. She oversees strategic public programs, develops new initiatives, and fosters collaborations to advance Florida Humanities’ mission and reach throughout the state. In addition to programming, Stephanie has also assisted with management of several competitive grant opportunities and GrantEd training resources. Stephanie holds a dual Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and Organizational Communications from the University of Central Florida, and a Master’s in Heritage Management from Newcastle University, England.

Prior to joining Florida Humanities, Stephanie worked at the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg, working in both the Curatorial and Development departments. Her curatorial work included managing the Asian Art collection, developing collection-driven exhibitions, and serving as the lead curator for several traveling exhibitions. She has also worked with local historical societies and museums. Before moving into the arts and cultural field, Stephanie worked in the education field for several years. She taught in Japan for two years, and taught English as a second language and directed immersion language youth camps in Florida.

Stephanie’s personal pursuits include volunteering with local non-profits, traveling, spending time with her family, and trying new hobbies. She advises on artistic coordination for a local art competition and festival, and is president of Clearwater Sister Cities, Inc, which supports cultural exchanges with Nagano, Japan. Stephanie enjoys the water and has most recently been alternating between teaching her 6-month old baby to swim and “diving” into the hobby of mermaiding.
